Caring for your jewellery

  • When wearing, simply follow the rule  "Last On / First Off'’. Put jewellery on last so that it is not sprayed with perfumes, hairspray, etc. Take it off first, before your clothing and before going to bed to avoid it being snagged or dropping to the floor. While storing avoid dust, moisture and direct light to ensure your jewellery does not tarnish and discolour.

  • Be mindful when handling your jewellery. Silver is a soft metal; therefore be gentle with it as it can bend or break under excessive force.

  • My jewellery and objects often incorporate materials which are found, whether organic or man made. This selection is very deliberate, as it provides an aesthetic and narrative that is important to me. Some changes to these materials over time is to be expected, this will enhance the objects.

  • Here are some cleaning tips for the different materials:

- Sterling Silver may tarnish and oxidise. This is a natural reaction to chemicals in the atmosphere, heat and the body oils of the wearer. Discolouration can usually be removed by careful use of a good quality jewellery cleaning cloth. If you store your piece in a ziploc bag this will reduce oxidisation.

Plastics, resin, stone, gemstones, driftwood and glass: should only ever be cleaned with a very soft cloth, you can simply use a damp piece of an old t-shirt. If your piece has elements other than silver do not submerge in a jewellery cleaning solution. You will damage the other materials.

- Paper and similar fragile materials  may become dirty with wear and handling. If they are treated with care, these marks of use will show the history of these objects whilst in your possession, adding a patina of time and love,
